Submitting Your Address Book

To use SpamLaser you must share email addresses with us, so we can authorize our server to accept mail from your senders. Before I explain how to authorize all of the addresses in your address book, let me warn you about sharing email addresses.

If you are going to do it, make sure you are comfortable with whom you are dealing with. You may visit our customers page, go to their websites, and call them. You may call us as well.  Additionally, here are a couple of points to help you become comfortable with sharing addresses with us.

  1. Here at BorderWeb, e-mail and e-mail services make up a significant part of our livelihood. Spammers threaten it.

  2. Spammers, and those in the business of selling addresses to Spammers, do not put their address and telephone number at the top of their web pages. Spamming is illegal, and spammers go to great lengths to hide their identity.

That covered, here is the common procedure for exporting and submitting your address book, so the addresses in it can be listed as authorized senders.

This applies to Outlook Express (OE) and similar email programs.

Open OE, open your address book, Click “Export” Select: Address Book (WAB) give the file a name and take note of where you are saving it.  Attach this saved file to an email, and send it to authorize@borderweb.net. That’s it.  Every address in your address book becomes an authorized sender. (You must be signed up as a SpamLaser client before you can submit your address book.)

It is a very good idea to clean out your address book first. Make sure you recognize all of the addresses in it. Take out old addresses, and those that you don’t recognize.

When you exchange email addresses with someone, let them know that you use SpamLaser  and you will need to authorize their address before they can send email to you.
